Strelitzia Reginae

Bird of paradise. A popular ornamental plant suitable for indoors or outdoors- makes a fabulous exotic entrance plant.

Large, erect oval leaves grow on stems up to a metre long, giving the appearance of a paddle. Its iconic flower is produced from a green-pink spathe, with brilliant orange and blue petals. Grows up to 2m tall.

Loves full sun to part-shade. Keep in rich, free-draining soil and water when the top 2 inches of soil have dried out. Fertilise monthly with a liquid feed during the growing seasons. Trim off spent flowers to maintain its appearance.
