Caryota orchlandra (Fishtail Palm)

This truly unique palm looks nothing like anything else in cultivation. A statement plant for a lush tropical feel. The leaflets are larger than that of Chamaedorea, arguably giving it more presence.

Can reach 2.5- 6m in height, back can be pruned back to better fit your space. Use a large pot to limit repotting need, as this will be difficult as the palm becomes large. Suitable or indoors or outdoors.

Grows best in bright, indirect light, though will tolerate low-light-full sun.

Water regularly to get the soil evenly moist but not wet. Allow the top inch or two to dry out between waterings. Make sure your palm isn’t standing in water. Fertilise every 1-2 months during spring-summer.
