What a mouthful!
This guy is a caudiciform plant from the gourd family, forming a large caudex (the bulbous trunk) which it's tendril-like deciduous vines grow from. These guy's trunks will go a bit soft when they need to be watered, but try to only water when this happens, and keep out of direct sun.
Do not water in it's dormancy period (Winter).
