Origin: Native to the Himalayas and Southeast Asia, prized for its small, fuzzy leaves and fragrant flowers.
Light: Provide bright, indirect light. I thrive in filtered sunlight but can tolerate some morning sun. Avoid harsh, direct midday sun which can scorch my leaves.
Temperature: Keep me warm, ideally between 60°F to 80°F. I’m sensitive to cold temperatures, so protect me from drafts and frost.
Humidity: I appreciate high humidity levels. Mist my leaves regularly or place me near a humidifier to maintain humidity, especially indoors.
Watering: Allow my soil to dry out slightly between waterings. Water me thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry, but avoid overwatering to prevent root rot.
Soil: Plant me in a well-draining, airy potting mix. A mixture of orchid bark, perlite, and peat moss works well to provide good drainage and aeration.
Fertilization: Feed me with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength (orchid food works well) every 4-6 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in fall and winter when growth slows.
Pruning: Prune me to remove any yellowing or damaged leaves and to maintain my shape. Pinching back stems can encourage bushier growth and more flowers.
Propagation: I can be propagated from stem cuttings. Take a cutting with at least one node, place it in water or moist potting mix, and roots will develop within a few weeks.
Pests/Diseases: Watch out for pests like aphids, mealybugs, and spider mites. Treat any infestations promptly with insecticidal soap. Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal diseases.
