Origin: Originating from Brazil & Mexico, I'm a hybrid begonia known for my striking foliage and vibrant blooms.
Light: Provide bright, indirect light. I thrive in filtered sunlight or partial shade, but avoid direct sun, which can scorch my leaves.
Temperature: I'm sensitive to cold temperatures and drafts, so protect me from chilly conditions.
Humidity: I love humidity! Aim for high humidity levels by misting my leaves regularly or placing me near a humidifier, especially indoors.
Watering: Keep my soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water me thoroughly when the top inch of soil feels dry, and ensure good drainage to prevent root rot.
Soil: Plant me in a well-draining, peat-based potting mix.
Fertilization: Feed me with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted to half strength every 2-4 weeks during the growing season (spring and summer). Reduce feeding in fall and winter.
Propagation: I can be propagated from leaf cuttings or stem cuttings. Take a healthy cutting, place it in moist potting mix, and keep it in a warm, humid environment until roots develop.
Pests/Diseases: Watch out for pests like aphids, spider mites, and mealybugs. Treat any infestations promptly with insecticidal soap. Ensure good air circulation to prevent fungal diseases.
These have a very small root system, they often don't need repotting for a long time.
